I have absolutely no interest in christianity. But,to disrupt a tree lighting is as pointless as the christians that used to try to force unwanted literature on people at Motley Crue or AC/DC shows in the mid 80s. Usually people just got pissed off at them. No one ever(that I saw) ever converted to christianity from being harassed(at a show, not historically). No one will join the "Occupy" movement or question the value of supporting corporations after having their evening disrupted. No one joined Homes Not Jails after we occupied Transbay Terminal and prevented people from keeping their scheduled travel plans in or out of San Fransisco. I could go on with examples. "Occupy" should really find representation that can speak on their agenda without alienating the "majority" they CLAIM to represent. If they want to REALLY be anti-corporation,why not have a "Occupy Northgate Mall" or "Occupy Southcentre". Why not directly occupy banks? Seems kind of counter-productive to occupy a tree lighting.

I'm not sure the Occupy is anti-corporate, I think it's more anti government giving corporations tax breaks, subsidies and bailouts when they fail with taxpayer money. I'm fine with corporations and have owned one (Tablet was an s-corp), but the government didn't give me any breaks or bail me out when my business failed, so why on earth should we be bailing out huge Wall Street companies and financial firms?

Christmas trees are hardly a symboly of christianity. Their tradition predates christainity and the Christmas label by a few centuries.
Regardless of how long fir trees have been used for other ceremonys / rituals, what it stands for today is a huge part of a Christian religious celebration. You're not really celebrating a wasteful holiday unless you chop down and kill a tree just like everybody else.
CJ, it's nice that you were concerned and all but I'm not worried about my image or looking at fir trees dressed up in baubles.

If you're going to crash an event as a form of protest, this is how you do it.

But,again, since there seems to be a variety of opinions as to what "occupy" is or is not about,I assume the more rational people are attempting to hold those receiving bail-outs and tax breaks accountable and are trying to change this sort of bailout. I assume there will ALWAYS be those sitting in Starbucks with their i-products or laptops with 99% stickers on them who like to talk about how they are against ALL corporations without seeing any irony with drinking a Frappacino while explaining how they like the idea of "class war".

I think some people here are missing the point. It was not a protest for the tree lighting crap. The tree lighting happened on black Friday which is protested every year with buy nothing day anyways. OS people were more interested in it being the busiest shopping day of the year than some holiday event where they turn on lights on an evergreen.
