Hurricane Irene
« on: August 25, 2011, 12:15:42 PM »

I've never been in a storm like this. New York has some fucked up weather! We think it rains too much in Washington but I'm pretty sure New York has us beat. Anyways, Irene is supposed to hit us this weekend with 105mph winds! WOO HOO!

You should eat nothing but Taco Bell for the next week and hit Irene with 150 MPH winds!
Hope no one drops a house on you.
Good luck in the storm!

I'd love to be in a hurricane sometime, I love big wind and rain storms. That, and I'd love to blast the Scorpions "Rock you like a Hurricane" while one is actually happening, it would be like a dream come true.

You should just go lay in your bathtub now for safety.

I went thru Hurricane Hugo in 1990.  Eye of the storm passed about 10 miles from my house.. i mean trailer.  Shit was crazy, CAT 5 with 150mph winds.  We went out during the lull in the middle and hit up a liquor store then ran back in before the wind starting picking up the other way.  Shit got trashed, we were out of power for weeks and had to siphon gas out of the boats that got tossed all over the place.  What's amazing about it is how the many tornados and stuff seem to hit randomly.  A couple blocks over there were houses untouched with their neighbors lots just razed.  One house got picked up and dropped a block away with everything intact.

Quote
Since 1953, Atlantic tropical storms have been named from lists originated by the National Hurricane Center. They are now maintained and updated by an international committee of the World Meteorological Organization. The original name lists featured only women's names. In 1979, men's names were introduced and they alternate with the women's names. Six lists are used in rotation. Thus, the 2009 list will be used again in 2015. Here is more information about the  history of naming hurricanes.

The only time that there is a change in the list is if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for reasons of sensitivity. If that occurs, then at an annual meeting by the WMO committee (called primarily to discuss many other issues) the offending name is stricken from the list and another name is selected to replace it.

I knew all that!  I watched the Weather Channel one day and they went into the history of hurricane names.  Never thought I'd ever enjoy watching the Weather Channel, but they got some good shit on there sometimes!

I went to 2 hurricane parties and both of them were awesome!

TONS of rain and wind and bunch people getting wasted and doing shots "FOR IRENE!"

Drinking Hooker, Rum with Kola Champagne, and eating disco fries made me pretty hungover though, I blame it on the hurricane.

What are disco fries?

And your parties got downgraded to Tropical Storm parties.

Irene did fuck a ton of places up.

Sebastion Bach lost his KISS pinball machine and some rare Skid Row shit that no one gives a fuck about.

Oh yeah, 21 people died.

There's lots of KISS pinball machines out there... I didn't realize so many people died. On the plus side, the streets of New York no longer have that Summer stench of pee.

I was in Hurricane Andrew when I was living in Miami and I was in the big Loma Prieta earthquake in San Fran a couple of years prior.  I will take earthquakes any day of the week.  The buildup to hurricanes on tv just sucks balls.  At least you don't get a week of hogwash prior to a quake...just after.

Those people in 'Mexico North' call it poutine, and it's fucking delicious.

Fuck yes Poutine is awesome, except i get it with vegetarian gravy. Blasphemy.

I was in Tropical storm Hermine with my girlfriend in Georgetown, TX. That city somehow (and by our luck) got hit with the most rain and fucked up weather apparently. Hooray for roadtrips!
