Plan B, whatever Satyricon is called now, the Backspace, Bomb Shelter house I hear is rad, GROUND KONTROL, and I remember going to a beer store on Hawthorne that you could buy bottles and drink them in the bar attached to the store.

Ground Kontrol - tons of pinball and arcade games, booze after I think 5pm
Shanghai Tunnel - weird basement bar (kinda like the East End) but booze and noodle bowls, great place to hang out with a group
The Tube - It really is tube shaped, it feels like you're in an airplane, the kinda place to stop in for a drink, not hang out at
Kelly's Olympian - Good place to grab a beer or meet someone
Matador - Part dive bar, part hipster hangout

There's a bunch of neighborhood bars too that I've been to, but I can't remember their names....

My heart is always on the eastside after going to Burnside skatepark over the last 15 years... I really like the B-Side Tavern (6th east).  On the way to Union Jacks, it's a good little punk bar, no bullshit.   My Fathers Place for cheap food, pinball and 40oz Fridays, then Slow Bar next door.  Star Bar on 6th and Morrison (by the bowling alley/Sassys), then south to Plan B.  Langano Lounge on 14th and Hawthorne for the bar-in-a-house-basement feel, I have a couple friends that work/DJ there - mostly skater bar.

Avoid the Sandy Hut (aka the Handy Slut) on 23rd and Sandy.. totally blown out egos.

Chopsticks II on 26th and Burnside is the spot to hit up for Karaoke.

Satyricon is gone. leveled. bulldozed.

plan b is good for shows, the alleyway on alberta is killer, the know also on Alberta has a lot of shows.
there's bars everywhere in this town...

Insert shameless plug here------> Absent Minds is playing at Omalley's tomorrow 6535 SE Foster.
The Slingshot also on Foster is a good place for drinks and food is awesome there.

haha, all good choices. Though my fav pub (probably always will be) is The horse brass on belmont. Other than that, I agree with everything everyone else said. Alleyway def, Saratoga on interstate. (kind of a Know feel to it). Ps joel, putting together the flyer for the 16th show, I will hit you up with details. Cursebreaker, Smooth Sailing, and you guys.

We initially formed in August 2009 and began writing music as a four-piece. After a long time searching for the right front person, Sean joined the band in February 2010 to fill the slot. We all come from backgrounds of rock, DIY punk and hardcore and have all played many shows and toured in previous bands, including Anchor Down, Knifetalk, Auralust, and The Knifeswitch. We are excited to finally have this band up and running and, as Willie said, we just can't wait to get on the road again.

Pretty good selections from everyone, I've also been meaning to check out the Lovecraft, but haven't had a chance to yet. As the name should indicate, it's supposed to be horror-themed.

Is the Ankeny Street Pub still around?I know the Paris theatre no longer has shows and the X-ray(O'hell cafe) and the Garden shut down a long time ago,but Ankeny Street was kind of a interesting place to drink before shows at any of the defunct venues I listed.Usually I drank at Satryicon,as I liked what it was BEFORE it went all-ages and had a souvlaki stand, rather then the hipster-ish Fellinis.

This whole concept repulses me. I don't want naked people dancing anywhere near me while I eat.

The Handy Slut used to be the Egyptian Room, didn't it?I have seen some interesting shows there in the past. Last show I saw there was The Procrastinators,Incinerators,Nervous Christians, and Knuckleheads. I was on the SPO guest list ;D ;D and don't remember ever paying cover, but I know it was always less then $5.Very reasonably priced beer, too. For some reason,I always ended up drinking with SHARPS there. But,sad to hear blownout egos have taken over,if this is the same place.

Roccos pizza.

Rocco's has been closed for a few months now. It's becoming a new Sizzle Pie location soon.

I forget to eat when I drink.  I'm the opposite of normal people.  I think this is where my super powers stem from.

Sizzle Pie is pretty good pizza, I've only had it a couple of times. I'm not down on Burnside much so I tend to forget about it.

Katie O'Brien's is cool. Kind of a sports bar/Irish pub, but Jimmy from 48 Thrills does the show booking there and he is super good people.
