yup.

That whole thing reminded me of Survivor this year where this one dude wanted to vote this chick off the island because she was kinda hot and had big boobs and he felt like she was a temptation he didn't want.
It saddens me that I agree so wholeheartedly with the sentiment of an example based on reality tv. Give people a chance. Also, don't slut shame. I hate it for it's disempowering nature and if you need a more personal reason, it's like shitting where you eat.

We should at least give them a chance. I mean even if someone is a "poseur" (I HATE that term BTW) that's still not a reason to be rude or disrespectfull.
True.Unless someone is being BLATANTLY  racist, homophobic, misogynistic,or xenophobic, then I see no reason to attack them before giving them a chance.

I forgot about the punk rules. Sorry that I forgot that punks were the new hippies. I need to be more sensitive.

No. There is a enormous difference.I am fairly certain that many communities have a reasonable disgust for BLATANT racism.I know some like to use racist "humor" or statements as a way to shock people or as a way to show that they don't "believe in political correctness".But,I am not sure why I or anyone else in the punk community should defend something which is exclusionary or bigoted.Nothing more to say on this.Wrong thread for this subject.

This is one of my least favorite sentiments of people involved in this subculture. The whole attitude is that you can't allow anything other than straight up punk fucking rock be a part of that world. What? You don't eat meat but you like punk? Unacceptable! Go hug some tree hippie!
Guys, this chick was showing her boobs on her own website that I clicked on with my own free will, let's bro down and treat her like less of a person! So I guess your punk vision is more jocks and mine is more hippie. Whatever happened to that whole "Unity" mantra? You don't need to be more sensitive, you ought to be more respectful and less of an ass to newcomers and other people in general.

Her own website that she posted on here. So if a girl posts pictures of her breasts on the internet for everyone to see, I'm an asshole for getting a boner? I think she is just into herself. If she posted a picture of herself praying at church, NONE of you guys/gals would like her.

The more I think about this, the more I actually agree with Ceej. I imagine most people on this board have put a certain amount of work into being a punk.  No matter what else we like, we all have bands we've had to search out, records and shows and zines and whatever that have required work to find.  There is no evidence that this girl has put in any of that work.  I don't know, maybe she has, but if she did she apparently didn't think it was important enough to emphasize.  She does seem to have put a lot of work into looking cute, though.  That's her prerogative, and god knows there are more women who put all their energy into being cute than in doing anything else, but it doesn't necessarily command the same level of respect.  She doesn't have to be punk as fuck, but coming in and expecting a free pass because she's cute has probably worked well for her in the past, and she had no reason to think it wouldn't work well here. Show up, looking cute and slightly vulnerable, have people like her because she's attractive, and become accepted despite not demonstrating any interest in punk music that you can't hear on the radio. So, Ceej called her on exactly what she was doing, and while it was tacky and inappropriate (and possibly completely unintentional), it wasn't necessarily the wrong call.

I was being a total smart ass with my original post. When I saw the nude photos I didnt think of a gal that should be on a punk rock message board. I saw a gal that kisses the mirror. I'm just glad to see that there was ONE person that saw where I was going with my bullshit posts.

I dont play punk police. I am just trying to defend my position. I thought I would get more people backing me up on this. I got attacked by all of you. And I get it...I know I was being a smart ass. And thats all it is. me being a smart ass. Thought you all would see my point about a girl that probably takes 3 hours every day in the mirror getting beautified. She probably wouldnt have ever posted anything else on here anyways... even if I DIDNT call a spade a spade.

A beard and glasses doesn't make someone related to someone else who has the same!

Welcome, I'm at Microsoft too!  This place is pretty dead lately, but hopefully the 3 or 5 of us that are still here can maybe bring this place back from the grave?

Andrew - 22

From Everett/Lynnwood area, living in southern Oregon for school.
Student, lighting designer.

I play guitar in an invisible rock band. There just isn't a lot here. I try see what I can in Seattle when I come up to visit family.

Favorite Bands: Lately? Paint It Black, Black Flag, Dead Boys, Rites of Spring.  And I've been really irrationally hooked on the Generation Decline EP. Probably because it's one of the only albums I've bothered upload to my phone.

I like scotch. Also, porters and stouts--malty goodness. There's also the Newman's Own Concord Grape Juice they sell at Costco.  Not mixed or anything--it's just really awesome grape juice.
