What's up with the lack of Seattle bands on this?

I know... But really, EC couldn't get 2 awesome bands from Seattle to fill this out?
Last time I talked to Mike was OWTH earlier this month and he was super stoked on playing with them and Kepi. Looks like he gets to do both of these things TWICE this year.
3 out of towners with a draw is rough to work with but I think this show had potential to have 2 Seattle locals open. 5 bands is my max for a show and I think 4 is perfect but if a 5th would balance out the touring / local ratio that'd be nice.

Everything you just said makes perfect sense. Which is probably why EC won't be doing any of it.

These are things that I spend my time thinking about while at work. What I've realized is that, like you said, it all comes down to WHO is booking it. Had this show happened at pretty much anywhere but EC or Nuemo's then there'd have been a nice representation of Seattle acts. Instead it gets a small Kitsap showcase which would be perfect if this show was also happening at the Chuck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about bands getting out of their own cities and share their music with near-by scenes to hopefully generate a following. Though as a new Seattle resident I'm slowly getting angrier at the size of the city and all the different little pockets of music that you have to choose between. So something like this bill just bums me out. Even if it was Neutral Boy AND and Seattle local pop punk band, this would be a better bill. Larger shows like this are the opportunity for moderate sized local bands to show off their goods to the masses and kids who don't get out to house shows and whatnot. That's just how it works.

Yep. Unfortunately there seems to be only a handfull of local bands that ever get slated to play these types of shows. Just watch, you'll start to notice that there's a rotation of local acts opening up for these package type tours and depending on the nature of the show, you'll see the same bands on the bills over and over again. It's alomst as if the larger promoters just want to be able to plug and play with these show and not really have to think about it.

TOTALLY.
I'd also venture to say some of the bigger promoters have a hard time keeping tabs on the good stuff happening at local shows. They're too busy schmoozing with the clubs and national acts to probably be bothered to go to a basement show. Know what I mean? Not discounting their work, there's a place for everything. But send out a scout or something. Cus there's cool shit going on!! Well, I guess we don't really HAVE to share it with everyone.  :-X

What's especially mind blowing is that every once in a while, these bookers will go out on a limb and will have one of the 'other' bands on bills, and they'll bring a ton of people in and sell a ton of drinks, and then never get a call back.  I know there have been a good couple local shows they've had there that the 'other' bands put on that made a lot of money for the house, and none of those bands ever get called back really.  It's kinda disgusting.  So house shows/Galway/Funhouse it is.

bookers are like the Bee-Gees song "How Deep Is Your Love", except replace Love with Rolodex.

There's a ton of good ones and a bunch of ones that recycle their bros.  It is what it is, sadly.

No wonder Neutral Boy thinks they can command guarantees that far surpass those of there more talented and more successful peers...

It was the same in PDX last night. One pdx band and then the other 3. But those 3 bands have a great draw here, so It didn't matter. It was a good show nonetheless.

We initially formed in August 2009 and began writing music as a four-piece. After a long time searching for the right front person, Sean joined the band in February 2010 to fill the slot. We all come from backgrounds of rock, DIY punk and hardcore and have all played many shows and toured in previous bands, including Anchor Down, Knifetalk, Auralust, and The Knifeswitch. We are excited to finally have this band up and running and, as Willie said, we just can't wait to get on the road again.

There's only one local and they're from across the sound. I thought we talked about this already!
