What kind of camera set up do you use? For what?
« on: January 16, 2011, 10:51:57 AM »

I have a Nikon D3000. I love it. I only have the 2 lenses that come with it and am looking for something much better for show and concert photography. I do sometimes use my camera for other things but I mostly bought it for shows and other things to go in my zine?

The ones I use are:
AF-S Nikkor 55-200 1:3.5-5.6G ED for close ups.
AF-S Nikkor 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6G

Any recommendations for a lens for excessively low light like you see at shows?
Any recommendations for a good photo edit program?

My cell phone takes pretty decent ones sometimes.

I'm a Canon guy- so I'm pretty biased and honestly I don't know very much about Nikon. But- google tells me that the D3000 is only capable of running at ISO 1600 & that it's known for getting seriously noisy anywhere past 600.

Again, I don't know what all Nikon's got on offer right now and I'd understand your wanting to keep with your platform so as to not have to bother buying new lenses.... but I can say that something like a Canon T1i (the T2 is just sort of a ripoff imo) has a WAY more competent sensor that'll push out to ISO6400 which will give you far better results in low light. Hell, even an XSi's sensor would probably outpace that D3000. but that's just my $0.02

I would love to get something that is around iso6400.

Whats the price difference? I didn't do any research though, my wife bought it for me.

Hm, I'm not entirely sure what a T1i goes for right now, but you could probably pick one up for something in the 4-500 range
