I'm psyched for this, but not as psyched as I was when I heard Spartacus had beat his cancer and they were going to be doing a full season 2, instead of this prequel. Now Spartacus' cancer is back and it looks like they will be canceling the series.

it's not scary. just cover your ass. Use Peerguardian to block spam IPs, and something like uTorrent to grab the programs. Fuck payin $60 for 100 channels you don't watch. I download the shows i want when they air early on the east coast. No commercials and in HD.

Netflix has a deal with Starz, where all current Starz programming is available on Netflix. I watched the first season of Spartacus on Netflix every week.

But seriously, dude. There's no reason to be afraid of bittorrent. It's easily the safest file-sharing system we've seen so far. Just be smart and do a few minutes of research first.

Starz's contract with Netflix runs out soon this year and they are being pressured by comcast/NBC not to draft a new one so I would wait and see before signing up with Netflix.

Torrents are awesome, I have 2 TB's worth of TV and I've never had a bit of trouble.

Season 1 was so badass. I read about the cancer thing, but I thought he was just going to be gone for a while (depending on how things went), not that they were canceling it. I'm sure this will be a decent show but I really like the Spartacus dude. sad days. But I guess I'll be entertained as long as as people are having their faces cut off and stuff.

Yeah I'm definitely going to watch this and I'm sure it will be just as great. I love all of the supporting characters as much as spartacus.

Yeah, I think it'll be rad to see more of Oenomaus and a bit of Ashur before his disability. Oh and Crixus' rise to fame. The whole show is just gonna be fuckin' sweet.

PASADENA, Calif. -- Starz executive Chris Albrecht announced that the network will go forward with a second season of "Spartacus" following the prequel "Gods of the Arena" (10 p.m. Jan. 21). The series had been renewed last year and then star Andy Whitfield's cancer recurred, leading the actor to drop out. Starz executives did not announce any casting news but it's rumored that Australian actor Liam MacIntyre, a Whitfield look-alike, will take over the role.

"Gods of the Arena" centers on a new character, Gannicus (Dustin Clare, pictured above), in a story set at the ludus five years prior to the arrival of Spartacus.

Producers said the recasting of the title role won't affect plans fo season two, which will move forward with what was planned before Whitfield's illness.

"We are looking at potential actors to play Spartacus," said executive producer Rob Tapert. "Andy Whitfield who is unable to play Spartacus will be recast and that will be a separate announcement in the coming months as to who is the new Sparatcus. Nothing good came from losing Andy in terms of the guy for that role. We have had the luxury now of building an infrastructure which sharpened the performances and skills of the actors. If there is any upside to Andy’s illness, it's that we are better prepared to support the new Spartacus when he comes into the role in a very epic season two that takes place no longer in the ludus and really is the story that you normally associate with Spartacus. It’s a different world and a different set of shoes to fill. We feel confident as does Starz that we will find the right person for that."

After the "Spartacus" press conference, writer/executive producer Steven S. DeKnight said Whitfield is keeping his medical condition private but said he's "fighting the good fight" and in good spirits. DeKnight said there's no chance that Whitfield will return to the role because it will be at least a year before Whitfield knows what his medical prognosis is.

Hell no! I want to see the story continued. If Whitfield is cool with it, then fuck it. I would rather see him as Spartacus, but I'd much rather see the series continue. I love Roman/Greek "history."

if the season ended on some great cliff hanger I would agree, but I think it ended well and the viewer can just use their imagination as to what happens next.
