i am only there friday night - monday, and am basically strictly seeing crappy ska shows (toasters, ltj, bosstones, etc).

one of the friday night secret shows is less than jake (who are playing 'losing streak' start to finish at the saturday show which is not as good as 'borders and boundaries' but WHATEVER), and im going nuts trying to figure out who the others are. the aquabats are in town on saturday for yo gabba gabba which is scheduled earlier than all the other performances on the tour, so im HOPING one of the saturday shows is going to be them.

i am still a little disappointed in the over-all line up (pennywise? snapcase? anti-flag? REALLY?!) but i havent visited chicago in a grip and wanted to visit before winter hits. im going to eat so much fucking pizza.

also im bummed im going to miss naked raygun AND the architects because im almost out of PTO and can only be there for the weekend. i really want to see the architects JUST so i can yell "PLAY BULLET IN THE MATTRESS!!!! PLAY BEAUTIFUL GIRL!!!!! PLAY JENNY JONES!!!!!!" etc.

Why'd you have to post this? I remember looking at the line-up last year and spending about an hour convincing myself I could afford it if I stayed with Katherine out there and ate nothing but ramen for 2 months when I got back and that it'd be worth it.
This year I am unemployed and super poor so it's completely out of the question.
The thing that breaks my heart is that bands I'd love to see who are playing this, are ONLY playing this. They're not going on a quick reunion tour and hitting a couple major cities. Just this.
There are great fests I'd like to go to like this one, The Fest in Gainsville, and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin and I know we have Bumbershoot but it's not quite the same caliber.

the crombies RULED and are the best new ska band ive heard in years.
toasters were solid as per usual.

i saw anti flag, and guys I KNOW YOU WILL FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE, but they are still pissed and like, you shouldnt die for your government, you know? i also saw snapcase and pennywise. :|

also SORRY CHICAGO, i drank all your gin, closed out 5am bars two nights in a row, and didnt eat anything i wanted to. i am going back asap. maybe to see the dismemberment plan in february?

i am soooooooooooooooooooo sad that i didnt get to see them AND the smoking popes. unforch, for me, ska >>>>> everything else, always and forever. i was watching videos of them doing their cover of 'take on me' and i started to TEAR UP because ive got some heavy memories of that song. oof.
