Oh Grendel you sad sad soul...if you once again are trying to defend yourself with name dropping your involvement...you have failed. Although I have only been a resident in Seattle WA for just over a year and haven't actively protested over privileged causes doesn't nearly illustrate the point you are vapidly attempting. I do apologize for not supporting my community...in stupid fucking ways like protesting the Sonics leaving or rallying for CoCo.

I spearheaded the '1000 skater march' in 2004 to protest the demolition of the Ballard Skatepark.  Guess what?  Despite the mayor saying we won they still demolished it and built a big piece of shit 50 feet away.  Don't even get me started on the 5 instances of Seask8 with the last one demo'd for Bill & Melinda Gates even with some kids fucking ashes in the skatepark itself.....GO SEATTLE!

Bobcat, it's rad that you organized that event. Even if it didn't stop the action from taking place, you stood up and incited solidarity and a passion for a legit cause. That's intense. Just sayin'.

Westlake?  pfft you might as well protest under the south side of the Aurora bridge.  Maybe get about 2 seconds of fluff on Fox news but that's it.

and kids, remember:

"Jesus Christ Made Seattle Under Protest"

(The names of the twelve streets in the heart of the central business district are paired by their first letters. From south to north, they are: Jefferson, James, Cherry, Columbia, Marion, Madison, Spring, Seneca, University, Union, Pike, Pine)

You can't get shit done here unless someone throws a brick thru a Starbucks (and then some way overrated pop-punk band writes a song about it)

CoCo settled for $30 mil, and he's released instantly from contract. The heads @ Fox have expressed very serious interest in him. Say hello to your new Arsenio Hall for the 10's! Actually, Conan would be a great fit there with a younger demographic. It's obvious NBC is full of fuddy duddies and their viewership all have old balls.

what's happening to conan?

Basically when he moved to "The Tonight Show" the ratings went down because a lot of people who like Jay Leno don't like Conan & visa versa.  And when Jay Leno got some show at 10PM he was competing with prime time shows, and his old followers didn't go with him.  So since the viewership was down on both shows NBC wanted to move Jay Leno's 30 Minute show to 11:35 and push The Tonight Show till 12:05AM.  Conan wasn't hearing any of that.  Moving The Tonight Show to such a late time slot would kill the program & he wanted no party to it.  So he would not agree to such an arrangement.  So NBC just let him go (probably to give the show back to Jay Leno).  They are giving him ~ 30 Million as a severance, however, he cannot work until September to be eligible.  If he does any work for any station any money he makes gets deducted from that 30 million from NBC.  They are also threatening to hold their "ownership" of his intellectual properties.  Triumph The Wonder Dog, The Masturbating Bear, etc.

For the past couple of weeks all the late night show hosts have pretty much been talking about what a dick move this is of NBC.  They didn't even give either show 7 months to prove their mettle.  It's nonsense.

thats kind of the point though. it is the generation gap problem. leno is not funny. plain and simple. conan is far funnier. one of the problems when he moved to his new slot was that he couldnt be as risque. the younger viewers prefer conan. all this being said, my parents like leno. they are old.

also, this has less to do with ratings (for Conan...it has to do with leno's ratingsand how he hurt local affiliates) and more to do with that piece of shit Zucker who runs NBC. When Conan ran Lampoon in College, he pulled pranks on Zucker (who ran the newspaper) and Zucker had him arrested.

Quote
Shows that Zucker championed such as Father of the Pride and the Friends spinoff Joey were considered failures.
what an asshole!
