Bands You Got Into Way Late
« on: December 18, 2009, 02:36:03 PM »

Sometimes it sucks to admit, but c'mon, don't be shy.

Just this year I got into Hot Water Music.  I mean, I'm glad I did, but shit... talk about late in the game.

I just got into Dillinger Four.  I was aware of their existence before and had heard them once or twice on comps, but never got beyond that until August of this year.

The Bouncing Souls come to mind.

I have this problem where as soon as I start listening to a band, they break up.  Sorry about Bear vs. Shark and Modern Life is War, guys.

these are all bands I just discovered within the last year:

dillinger four
bomb the music industry!
strike anywhere
against me!
pretty much all the ska I love now
crime in stereo

this is what happens when you don't have the internet for three years.

this year i made an effort to listen to bands that id heard of but never really listened to. this included:

the descendents (aside from suburban home)
talking heads (aside from the singles)
crass (werent as terrible as i would have guessed based on their fan base)

bands that i got really into way late in general:

alkaline trio

i can get behind this statement. i like only two records they have done tops. probably more like half of two records. i think they are on the lower end of ska bands that were from around that time.

even though i love less than jake, i can think of about 1000000 better ska bands that exist.

Ha, I remember when most of the bands y'all are listing when they first started. I never really got into the Smoking Popes, but one of those dudes used to send me all their records. Hmmm.... I should probably see if that vinyl is worth anything. Most of the bands I feel I slept on are KBD and 70s punk bands I didn't hear until the last couple years, I jumped straight into Black Flag, the Ramones and Dead Kennedys, it took me a while to find all the 70s punk bands.

it likely is, although they are about to be re-released on asian man. you better put it on ebay now, or just sell it to me.

Most modern pop-punk. I joined the Mark Sparkles in like January of February, and have gotten a quick education via Ben and Jake. I really feel bummed about missing out on ever seeing the Marked Men and the Ergs!

here's one as of 10 minutes ago...Fifth Hour Hero.
I played one of their songs on my last radio show, but other than that had never listened to them. I was even given a cd of theirs free at one point but never listened. Right now i am listening to Not Revenge... Just a Vicious Crush. I very much disliked the first song, but everything since has fucking ruled.
