I'm glad you started this thread, Brittney. I will now be posting in it at least one or two times a week.

Here's what I bought this week so far:

Cat Power - Dear Sir LP
Cat Power - Moon Pix LP
Cat Power - The Greatest LP
Cat Power - Jukebox 2xLP
My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything LP
Neurosis - Given to the Rising 2xLP
the White Stripes - S/T LP
the White Stripes - De Stijl LP
the White Stripes - White Blood Cells LP

I got most of those for $2 each. It's nice knowing people. ;D

how can i get in on this excellent deal?

i am stoked because my new art of the underground 7"s came today!

1. Pick a record store you like a lot.
2. Hang out there until all the employees know you.
3. Let the magic happen.

 ;D

Almost exclusively. I will shop at Singles Going Steady occasionally when I need to, and Zion's Gate maybe once or twice a year for specialty stuff.

You don't have to, I own all the ones I care to ;)

Random anecdote: Today when I was in there, there was a girl flipping through the "new arrivals" next to me. She came across a Doors record and said, "I've heard really good things about them." She said it like they were some up-and-coming indie band, it made me want to laugh.

Oh man, that's funny! :D

I get asked if I work there all the time. I finally gave up and I just show people whatever they're looking for, or tell them about the record they're asking me about.

Good news: Bob told me they're going to be doing vinyl stamp cards soon!

Another thing I just noticed: I was looking at my purchase list for this year (I'm OCD, I keep lists of everything), and I've already purchased a hundred records this year. ;D

Yay! The lady at the register today was very nice and let me finish off my existing CD stamp card with my vinyl, but vinyl stamp cards will definitely help retain my loyalty.

good mother of god man.

I'm somewhere around the 30 point. some of those are 7"s but there's an LP or three thrown in. The rest are used CDs from Buzzard's and Amazon.

I know I'm in here kinda late, but I listened to Ten redux couple days ago and it really fucking kicked ass.  The new mix sounds so much more raw and energetic.  I have no idea how much it cost cause i'm never gonna buy it, but take a listen to it sometime.

The funniest part is I've hardly spent any money on them. I've "purchased" them almost entirely on trade-in credit from CDs.

I used to have almost 2000 CDs, but starting last summer I started trading them in for vinyl. I'm down to just under 1500 CDs now.

There was a .99 record sale at Easy Street today (and tomorrow). I couldn't find anything in their bins (too much Neil Diamond and Jethro Tull), but I did pick up the following:

the Cute Lepers - Can't Stand Modern Music LP (white)
Drive Like Jehu - S/T LP
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - S/T 12"
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero 7"

That's a lot of CDs. I have a big box full, but I think I'm shy of 300. I still can't choose what to listen to in a reasonable amount of time... I don't know what I would do with 1500.

Oh, it was flat-out retarded when I used to drive. I would stand there in front of my giant CD shelf for a good 15 minutes most days trying to pick out a few CDs to bring with. The console in my car held 8 CDs perfectly, so if it was a trip that was going to be longer than 15 minutes, I would try to bring 8 CDs with a good range of music, so I would have something for whatever mood I ended up being in.

I figured out why Easy Street's LP pickings are slim every time I go in. It's because you've already BOUGHT EVERYTHING.

You really do have to go multiple times a week to get the good stuff in the used bins. Especially after the staff have already picked through it before they put it on the floor... >:(

Everything I "bought" today was new, though. I traded in a bunch of CDs again, so I had some credit to burn.

Some really great stuff in there (Pretenders, Petty, Costello, Young, hell even Police)!
I can't remember if I asked, do you mostly shop at Easy Street too?

I do, though today I hit Jive Time and the Fremont Vintage Mall. But I consider Easy Street "my" record store.
