People are pussies nowadays... In simpler times, people were more free... There are far too many organizations or groups that their whole being is just to create and cause censorship...  Do you ever read the ratings before previews these days?  Some previews are rated PG-13 for "brief tobacco use"... Who the fuck cares?

Remember in the 60s through the 80s that some movies were stamped with a PG rating but contained a shitload of nudity?

The more we censor, the more creativity starts to go away....

People must just be mindful and respectful.. The use of certain words doesn't necessarily reflect one's beliefs or values.  Actions speak louder than words.

Fuck it...

Probably more of what I meant by simply saying "People are pussies" or whatever. I agree.

this is because the PG-13 rating did not exist until steven spielberg suggested they make one, when temple of doom came out

Well... The whole rating system got incredibly misconstrued between now and then.. The point is, back in the day, a milder rating was given to movies that had more extremes... Now, they want to put a harsher rating on the simplest shit.. People have become far too sensitive and apparently need to be warned about everything... Like "simulated action sequences".... Who the fuck cares..... People generally know what they're getting themselves into when they go to a flick or pick up a CD...

Very rarley do I see or hear of someonestating, "Oh my god.... I never knew this horro movie would have murder in it".

"Hey... Why does this pornographic magazine feature photos of nude people?".

People suck!

Americans like to enact laws and regulations to regulate behavior they don't like, plain and simple. They have such little tolerance for different aesthetics, political ideas, lifestyles, etc. that aren't exactly like theirs, that they push for laws to govern or outlaw the behaviors they don't like. I swear most of this stuff comes from white Christians... hell, they even managed to outlaw alcohol for a few years. These days it's more subtle, rating systems, arcane liquor laws, Defense of Marriage acts, stricter abortion laws, blocking stem cell research, here in Seattle anti-sitting and panhandling laws, noise ordinances, etc. It bogs down legislatures and city councils with a zillion people pushing civility and nanny laws, it creates piles of red tape and bureaucracy, and it keeps law enforcement and city officials busy hassling decent folks while real crime gets ignored. Shit, I got a notice from the city a few years ago for having my compost pile in my yard too close to the street, it was 8 feet away. Another time I got a notice for having a camper in my driveway when I took off the cab of my truck to haul some arcade games and left the canopy leaning against my garage door for 2 weeks. I can't think Americans had to deal with all this crap even 30 years ago or European countries have half the stupid laws we do. But it keeps government in business, catering to the pussies that don't want you to do anything that bothers them.

and gremlins! and gremlins!

the first PG-13 movie was DREAMSCAPE with Dennis Quaid in 1983.    Next was Red Dawn.   I know I was there.
