When I looked at the track listing of "Everything Could Turn Out Right This Time" and saw a song called Janel I thought, "But there are so many songs about HER!  How will this hold up?"  But boy, that might be my favorite song on the album!  The chorus kills me.  WAY TO GO DATELESS!

This was an elaborate joke, because when I wrote it, I totally had a crush on this girl named Janel, and you'll notice it's not spelled the same way as THAT Janelle.  Total tongue in cheek.  Funny thing is, we've been playing it for over 5 years, and no one has ever asked me about it until the past couple months!

So are you saying that Janel's the REAL Janelle?

The humor comes across in the song for sure.  I think it's what makes the song so fun.

Riot grrrl is rad as hell, but there aren't really any good bands like that active right now. Bummer.

Still to this day..one of the shows I've been the most miserable at in my life was Sleater Kinney at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland.

Bratmobile came sooooo much after the pop-punk Janelle.  So they're different Janelles!!!

True story, they are pretty good. But it was the Crystal Ballroom in Portland filled with these indie fucks, who kept making my friends and I lives difficult at the show. The two opening bands were horrible as well, might of even been the Black Keys...then this other band we deemed "Barbara Springsteen" or "Bruce Striessand" cause it reminded us if those two had a horrible love-child, and that love child was able to make music. Really bad music, music that makes your ears bleed.

We also were passing up seeing what ended up being a killer show in Seattle we had been planning on going to, because it was our friend Eli's birthday and she wanted us to go with her, as they were her favorite band at the time. We were just unhappy to be there in the first place, and things got worse and worse. Eventually when Sleater Kinney got on, everyone around us was mad at us for dancing.

Should put (RIP) next to thread title if band breaks up...just a suggestion to not confuse people/save time for those who are new to the site.
