Topic: What do you guys think about this idea? (Read 738 times)

Maybe also doing monthly calendars as handbills, that way we can all walk around and support each others shows, all on one flyer? So starting on like the 15th of April, we'd have flyers out and around for all shows that are involved with us in May? Then it increases membership of bands, and we can all help promote each others shows?

I think it is a good idea...but won't it be difficult to execute? (with all of the last minute show changes and all). Perhaps maybe a NWPUNKBOARD Poster/Calender or something to hand at record stores and read over community/college radio. Our buddy FRANK on Olympia's WA. Campfire Island (awesome punk show Sat. 12midnight to 2AM) on KAOS 89.3 FM would most likely read the Calender every week if we submitted it to him. Just a thought.

I was thinking about that, and It should be fine to just list them as they are at the time that the flyer goes to press. And only list the shows linked on our calendar at that time. That way it encourages more promoters/bands to get on here and talk. Then put a note at the bottom that says, all line-ups are subject to change. Check www.nwpunkboard.com to stay up to date. Then it's doing the job all the way around... I think I'm going to start this. Like the List in the bay area... April 15th is the cut off for May!!!

Great fix. The list is one of the best things ever...well that and "A league of their own" or maybe "Eight men out" either way I'm getting so stoked for baseball season this year!!!

It's a great idea, I loved the way the way the RKCNDY handbills used to be. In high school, that thing was like my day planner, with things circled and crossed out.

I can get some friends to post them in a few strategic Bremerton locations, and I can take care of my neighborhood.

I couldn't find one of the exact ones I had in mind, but they were like quarter size, black and white and just had a list of all the RKCNDY shows, and occasionally when they put on a big show at DV8 or some other random venue. Here's a Rocket ad I found that's sort of the right idea, but much thinner (and older):

I have an Oakland A's world series '88 t-shirt that I found at Value Village. I was so stoked when I found it, my hands were shaking. Too bad they fucking lost that one. I cried like a baby when Gibson hit that game-winner off the Eck (though to be fair, I was like 6).

Haven't rooted for the A's too hard since the early 90's, but they're still one of my favorites. The Giants, on the other hand, can pretty much suck it.

we were going to do this with the 'real punk bars of seattle' (ie: central/king cobra/funhouse/bit) then everything went to shit with the cobra closing and money not flowing in.

I still have all the templates and mockups if you are interested I can give you a copy. Wouldn't take too long to write up.

The main problem is getting people to put WORDS in there - articles. A zine is only as good as its content and we can't wait forever for journalists to do writeups etc.
